GTA 6 release date and editions: what's actually confirmed
The confirmed GTA 6 release date, both editions with prices, the preload date, and the physical 'code-in-a-box' catch — sourced first-party, labelled honestly.
The single most-searched GTA 6 question has a settled answer, so let’s start there — and since pre-orders opened, the editions picture is now settled too.
Confirmed: the release date
Grand Theft Auto VI releases on 19 November 2026. This is confirmed by Rockstar Games directly, following the earlier 26 May 2026 window. When a date comes straight from Rockstar’s Newswire, we label it Confirmed — the highest tier on our confidence scale.
Confirmed: platforms
The game launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC version announced — no date, no window, no pre-order. We will not list a PC date until Rockstar states one; historically, Rockstar PC ports arrive well after console launch, but that’s precedent, not an announcement.
Confirmed: editions and prices (updated 30 Aug)
Pre-orders opened 25 June 2026 (midnight local time). There are exactly two editions — verified directly on the PlayStation Store listings and Take-Two’s own pre-order announcement:
- Standard Edition — $79.99. The full game, plus the Vintage Vice City Pack as a pre-order bonus.
- Ultimate Edition — $99.99 (digital only). Everything above plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade: bonus vehicles (the ‘95 Grotti Cheetah among them), the Hawk & Little Morgan revolver pair, personalized weapon variants, exclusive outfits and styles, and access to a set of named in-game venues and perks — including the Rideout Customs mod shop, Sara’s Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo, One-Eyed Willie’s mod shop, a PTT Youngin$ compound mission, and the Paradise Garage safehouse.
- Every pre-order (both editions) includes a free month of GTA+.
There is no Collector’s or Special Edition. Plenty of people are searching for one; anything sold under that name today is unofficial or third-party. If Rockstar announces a premium edition later (as happened with GTA V), this article and the tracker will update the same day.
Likely: physical copies are “code in a box”
Consistent retail and press reporting says the physical release ships without a disc — a download code in the box, redeemed to your account. That has real consequences (no lending, no used-copy resale), so it deserves plain labelling: it’s Likely, one notch below Confirmed, because Rockstar’s own copy doesn’t spell it out. Physical copies reach retail on 12 November 2026 — the same day digital preload opens (that date is Confirmed, via Take-Two’s announcement).
Why we bother separating this
A lot of GTA 6 coverage blurs “confirmed” and “leaked” into one confident-sounding paragraph. That’s how bad information spreads. Our model is the opposite: every claim above carries its label, each is tracked individually on the confirmed-vs-rumoured tracker, and when a status changes, the update is dated and public.
For everything location-related, the same discipline drives the Leonida Map: every point carries a confidence label, and nothing is presented as official unless Rockstar has confirmed it.
